Penang new hotels

We will be in Penang beginning December. We're keen to stay in a new or renovated hotel. Currentl,y we've considering 5 Points, 69 Boutique hotel & the recently renovated Sunway Hotel. Just wondering if there's any new hotels opening up between now & December. What about the hotel next to Traders which is currently under cosntruction? Any idea what the hotel is?

Thanks & cheers! :)

St Giles(opposite Traders) and Rice Miller(across Penang jetty) are still under construction and doesn't look like they will be ready by next year.

Macalister Mansion is 100-year-old colonial mansion turned into a boutique hotel.

4 Points by Sheraton is lovely hotel but apart from the beach not much to do close by. Lost Paradise in BF is fairly new. Haven't stayed there but walked round looks lovely.

Macalister Mansion looks wonderful but is often booked out- no idea about the price. My wife and I are going in August- we finally settled on Traders after a long, long look.

Most of the hotels seem to be quite old, some are renovated true.

Hard to make a choice as it's our first time!
