You are right around the corner from the famous street food corner of Guiney Drive. Literally 3 mins walk. This is for evenings only.

Gurney Mall is next door and you can find restaurants serving lunch and dinner...all types - Asian ie Chinese, Indian, Malay, and Western as well. You can pretty much get everything there in the mall - FX changer, groceries, high end shops etc.

For all other attractions, you will need a cab.

Your hotel is not far from the heritage Georgetown area. I think the taxi's fare is around RM15 to Little India, Peranakan Museum, Fort Cornwallis, Prangin mall, First Avenue mall etc. Negiotiate the taxi fare before boarding.

Other than Gurney Plaza which has enough restaurants to last you for 2 wks, turn right from hotel's entrance and within 10 mins stroll, there are morning dimsum(before 11am), live seafood restaurants and hawkers' food.

If taking public transport, Rapid buses pass Jalan(road) Bagan Jermal and Jalan Kelawei. For most places, it requires only 1 bus ride, but for Penang hill and Ayer Itam Pagoda(kek lok si), you will need to change to another bus at Komtar.

Have a look at route 101, 102, 103, 104.

I've seen that the bus pick up passengers near the Fire station( nearest landmark big roundabout, 3 mins walk from yr hotel).
