Mount Kinabalu Climb Foot Attire

I am doing the Mount K climb later in the year and was wondering what footware is best for the trip. Normal runners, cross trainers, semi hiking runners or proper hiking boots? Any other tips would be nice too. Thanx

When my partner and I did it she wore GOOD trainers and I wore proper hiking boots.

Her footwear was perfect; lightweight, good grip and comfortable.

Mine was ok going up although a little heavier on the feet, but coming down, due to the initial long, steep incline followed by the steps, I found that my toes were forever pushed forward within my boots and therefore quite uncomfortable by the end.

So my advice is to wear a good quality, comfortable, worn in, breathable pair of trainers, (as opposed to some of the 'fashion victim' styles worn nowadays)!

It is not so much of a climb, more of a steep uphill/downhill trek.

Uss a high quality canvas cross trianer. The hike isnt too hard but it is long. Wait a couple days after your plane arrives before hiking.
