Gayana Eco Resort or Bunga Raya Resort?

Hi,

we're looking to splurge at the end of our trip for 1 or 2 nights on Pulau Gaya, which obviously means there's only two options, the Gayana Eco resort or Bunga Raya resort.

Firstly, the reviews/ratings etc put them at pretty even but is there any major differences between the two? The Bunga Raya seems to perhaps have a nicer location with a wide beach but the Gayana has the villas on the water (seem to be a little cheaper too)

If you take into account, food/activities etc, is anyone better than the other? I had a look at the restaurant lists on the websites, and even some menu's but surprise surprise no prices. How much could we expect to be paying for food at these resorts?

Are you able to move between the two?

Lastly, if we have a flight at 14:55 from KK to Singapore, and the first ferry leaves to the mainland at 12:30 (approx 30min trip i think) is that cutting it too fine for make the flight?

This will determine if we stay 1 or 2 nights..

Sorry to be pushy, but we're in Malaysian Borneo from 7th - 19th Oct, so if anyone knows the answers to these questions, please reply if you can :)

many thanks

Hi meand83_b,

Both Gayana & Bungaraya are two resorts built on a different concept, Gayana has villa on stilts (above water), while Bungaraya nestled in the junge. It really depends on your preference, if you like the feeling being in the natural jungle, then Bungaraya is for you. But if you are seeking to stay above the water and go snorkeling anytime you like, then Gayana is for you.

Bungaraya is built along Polish Bay, where the sea current is pretty strong, hence you will not find much underwater creatures if you tend to go for snorkeling. But, you can enjoy non-motorized watersports which is provided FOC for in house guests, some water sports requires stronger sea currents.

By staying at either resorts, you are entitled for free transfers between the 2 resorts. They are both under the same owner/management.

As for transfer out, you can actually request for the resort to transfer you out earlier, let them know about your flight schedule.

If you would like to experience the beauty of both resorts, stay 1 night in each, then you can compare.

Hope it helps!

Nickie
