Advice on how to be prepared

Hi everyone,

We are going to Borneo for 2 weeks end of May.

We would love to climb Mount Kinabalu but we have few questions :

- how should we physically be prepared?(we live in Switzerland and like hiking but we dont do it that often) Appart from skiing we didnt do any sport this winter...

Do you think it is feasible??

- also can we let our luggage?? It might be big if we come for 2 weeks.. how did you do?

- which company is good for tours?

- shoild we go for the 1d or2d tour??

Thanks in advacnce for your help

Marie

Have a look at Top Questions on the right of the page (full screen view). The is information on climbing MT Kinabalu that answers several of your questions.

The mountain takes 2D 1N to climb unless you are very very fit. You will need to overnight on the mountain. This is where the problem, with booking, arises. Accommodation on the mountain is very limited and in high demand. You need to book well in advance.

Try using Downbelow. I use them and find their service is excellent.

I travel to Sabah every year and do not take a lot of luggage as it is tropical climate and you only need, mainly, light clothing. If you climb the mountain you will need warm clothing for the climb.

You can store bags while you are climbing, at the park headquarters.
