How difficult would be to find taxi/Grab from Semenggoh aound 3PM to the Kuching riverfront and how much would it cost?
If your trip is the other way round, no problem at all (either GRAB or normal Taxi). You may even strike a deal with the driver for your return trip back to Riverfront. But for one way trip from Semenggoh to Riverfront at 3pm, the waiting time is gonna be longer under normal circumstances for both GRAB and Taxi. I gather the latter would be more expensive, may be RM40 to RM50?....
Avoid Bus service within the city. They are not really reliable, nothing like your home city Singapore!Edited: 25 April 2018, 11:34
If you have time, go to tourist information and ask if they still run the minii van. It was cheap and pick up was by the old court house.
It is possible to get a GRAB car or taxi to remote places like Semenggoh and Damai Beach but coming back is a problem - recommended to ask for tourist information on shuttle buses or even call up the attraction beforehand to check the shuttle timings.
It may be very difficult to get a taxi and impossible to hail a Grab car so far out from the city for the return trip! I tried lol.
For traveling in big groups there are various mini-van operators available but I only know a handful.
Thanks everyone who replied. At the end, I rented a car at the airport for two days (RM80 per day) and it was probably one of the wise decisions - we could go anywhere we wanted and not restricted by relaying on external transport.

Which company at the airport supplied the car? Were you happy with it? Was insurance included? Thanks!
Just been into tourist office, who claim no knowledge of a shuttle service. Spoken to few people who visited in last week and used public bus and said it's reliable (better than our one to Bako then, which did arrive - just 50mins late!). Still, we'll give the bus a go.....
After you have used the bus, perhaps you can post some detail.
