Options for Semenggoh Orangutan Centre

Hello all

Hoping for some insight on Semenggoh Orangutan / Wildlife Centre. It seems that if we make our own way there, entry is around RM10 for an adult so I am wondering whether it is worth paying for the type of tours that are advertised on this site; around AUD 60 / RM 180 per person. Is a guide necessary once inside the centre - just not sure why you'd take the tour option.

Thanks in advance.

The park will arrange for the guides, included in the RM10 entrance fee. Transport is also very easy to arrange yourself: either take the public transport from RM4 or so like I did (from Jalan Masjid bus station, bus K6), or call a Grab car.

You do not need an organised tour - a rip off.

The bus will take quite a while and then you have to catch one back to Kuching - not an ideal solution.

If you have a guide driver, you can make a full day of it in that area. Get the 9.30am feeding in and then visit other sites / attractions in that area..

We happen to be staying at this hotel but I doubt that they would turn away a non-resident - grandmargherita.com/facilities-services - shuttle service which is RMB20 each way - obviously more expensive than the local bus - but maybe cheaper than a taxi? Definitely cheaper than a tour

The other problem with the local bus is that it also only drops you down at the main road and it can be quite a hike up to the viewing area.

Thank you everyone, we'll certainly ditch the tour operator option.
