Angaga - recommended Tour Operators

Hi, my husband and I are hoping to visit Angaga next year. I've been trying to get prices from Thomson but not having much luck. Can anyone recommend another Tour Operator?

Many thanks

We booked with Maldives direct when we went to Angaga a couple of years ago (http://www.maldivesdirect.uk.com/) the owner Jim is very helpful & sorted out a good deal for us - we found them much better than the big tour operators that we had used in the past, & we will definitely use them again.

Hi.

We have booked for next feb, we did it 3 months ago.

I think they are probably booked up for this period, with not having many rooms.

Kuoni do not do Angaga, but as Lindi says, Jim Forrest at Maldives Direct is the way to go, really good service, great website with excellent photos... in fact I should be getting royalties the amount of times I have mentioned his site ;-)

Thanks everyone for your replies so far. When I spoke to Thomsons the other day they said that it wasnt available due to the merge with First Choice but were hoping to have something available within the next couple of days. I've since found other forums where it would appear that unless your quick off the mark with your booking that they've probably used up all of their allocations. I'll try the guy recommended above. Thanks again

ps. desperate to go. It looks lovely. We have been to Veligandu before they did refit and we want something as unspoilt and quiet - and personally I dont want a swimming pool when you've got all that lovely, warm, clear blue ocean to swim in. No offence.

I have received a reply from Thomsons but think that I've been spun a yarn! They say that they are no longer offering Angaga as in their opinion it is a 'substandard island'.

Would be interested to hear the replies to that statement. Certainly at this moment in time it hasn't put us off going but would appreciate comments/thoughts.

Hi Blissbliss

When were you looking to go ? Substandard?? Its a bit worrying for us as we are travelling with Thomson to Angaga May 09, they say its a 4 star on their website and are still offering it at this time but not before, so maybe their allocation has been taken up already.

It is a bit weird they are telling you its substandard if they are still offering it. Even the recent reviews are still very good......hmmmm perhaps they want you to book another resort with them rather than turn you away, that would be a bit sly !

Hi, I think the same as you insofar as Thomsons has probably used all of their allocation. I couldn't get to grips with the reply received in conjunction with the good feedback that the island had received on this site.

We were looking at travelling in March next year.

Again, my hunch is that the lady I spoke to yesterday was from the FirstChoice section and perhaps the merging of the 2 companies is making things a little confusing to them. Not they're fault I guess as it all comes down to the training they get.

As mentioned on my previous post - their response has definitely not deterred us from going to Angaga. It just means that our business will go else where.
