We returned from Male last week with Monarch.
During the second week of our holiday , we received a communication from our tour operator to tell us that the flight would not be returning directly to Manchester, but would be calling at Gatwick first to drop off passengers. They said this was due to scheduling. Many people were cross and unhappy that arrangements could be changed at short notice.
We had to contact our taxi provider to request a pick up two hours later. He said that we were lucky. Usually Monarch don't bother to inform their customer of changes!! Some people had to look for a hotel room for the night. The additional costs were unreasonable.
We found economy class on the flight extremely tight and very uncomfortable. I had restless leg syndrome and couldn't get out of my seat due to the person next to me being asleep. I have to say that the 29" seat pitch must be a health and safety issue.
On checking the Monarch website yesterday I was not suprised to see that Monarch are increasing seat pitch to 31", same as British Airways. Following our experience I'm sure that they have been inundated with complaints.
