Car Rental around Le Meridien Ile Maurice Hotel

Anyone know a reasonably cheap runaround that could be hired near our hotel? We are staying at Le Meridien Ile Maurice Hotel, and obviously don't want to get it from the hotel.

Its only for 2 people and would prefer a Air Conditioned car for about 3/4 days.

Hi Abrim,

We always use a local company based in Grand Baie, GBC Cars, next to the Mauritius Commercial Bank. We have used them for years and have always had excellent service from them. All cars are fairly new and air conditioned and inclusive of taxes and CDW.

Not sure what you mean by a cheap runaround?

Hi

We always use GBC Cars and agree with all Bronia's said. Their prices are about the best you'll find.

There may well be the odd cheaper car hire company but do they offer full insurance and delivery? We've looked at one or two other companies in Flic en Flac and still gone with GBC. We usually have a Suzuki Swift or Nissan March which is great for getting about the island.

The large groups, Hertz, Avis etc. are far more expensive.

Thats for the web link.

Do you think a 1000CC car will get us around the island ok? Or will be need something more powerful.

Yes 1000CC is OK. We used to have a Suzuki Swift or Nissan March but now because we hire for 5/6 weeks at a time we have the Hyundai Atos which is I think is 1000CC and thats been absolutely fine for us.

You won't be driving hundreds of miles in a day, a small engined car is no problem at all and more economical on fuel, which incidentally isn't much cheaper than here in UK. Smaller cars are better for parking too.
