Which island to stay at?

There are many islands and places to visit in Bocas Del Toro. Which ones should I consider and what are the differences between the islands? We were looking at Batimentos, Isla Solarte, and Bocas Town. Any other recommendations?

We like our hotel to be isolated, but to be able to get to town easilly if we so desire.

What do you consider easy? A 15-20 minute taxi ride to town, a boat ride? Do you plan to go into town after dark and are you comfortable in a taxi boat after dark? The main town, Boca Town, is on Colon. If you don't want to deal with boats after dark and you want to be able to go to the main town at night then look at Colon options. Carenaro is the closest island to Bocas town and very close. Depending on where you stay on Carenaro you could be a quick boat ride away. If you don't care about access to Bocas town after dark then you have many options. Others feel comfortable with taxi boats at night going further away. It is up to you.
