Nikki Beach Resort

We are booked at the Nikki Beach resort in Playa Blanca for the Christmas holidays. We booked through an online travel agency who assured us they would be ready for guests. Has anyone heard anything about the resort recently - there has been nothing posted online.

According to the local paper here in Panama City - it is open - have no idea if that means all amenities though - they have a habit here of opening resorts when not fully complete - still think they are waiting on the casino at Breezes and the completion of the giant swimming pool at Playa Blanca - although half is open.

They are supposed to be having the grand opening in the next couple of days. I know they have the grass in and the pools are filled. Other then that I can't say anymore. I had a friend furnishing his condo at Nikki beach a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks - I guess we'll just make the best of it - we're only there for a few nights. We were hoping to make a day trip to El Valle from the resort. Is it best to book something like this through the hotel? Is the zipline worth it? We have 3 boys(men?) ages 19, 17 and 13.

Yes the zipline is worth it - your kids will enjoy it.

My preference would be to rent a car and do the trip to el Valle myself - more in control of your time and cheaper.

deb, El Valle is small. One doesn't need a guide or a tour to go there.

With a tour, your time will be limited there. You may want to spend some more time there than the "tour" will allow. The Market is a must , but Sunday is the best day for it lots of vendors, Saturday not bad. If you are lost up there, just stop and ask any gringo you see - there are many many

that you will see in the small one street town - they live there.

How was your stay at the Nikki Beach Resort Allinclusive, Panama. Our daughter and some friends are booked there March 2011. Is the hotel finished. How would you you rate this allinclusive ? Any information would be great.

Well, it was an interesting experience. When we were there over the Christmas break, they were opened, but they shouldn't have been. There were many issues still not worked out - starting with no hot water in our rooms the 3 nights we were there. It will be a beautiful property when it's complete - and maybe by March it will be. The people working there were very nice and the rooms were fabulously decorated - but with so many things not working at the time, it left us feeling cheated. Fortunately, they refunded a good portion of our money - I would make sure your travel agent has been there recently to check it out.

The pool (we only saw one) was beautiful - there was no hot tub at the time. The beach was ok but the beaches in that whole area -not just this one resort -are not pristine like you find in the Caribbean. We stayed by the pool mostly. There was no all inclusive deal when we went. The restaurants were not open yet (another thing we didn't know when we booked) but they were serving food in an area of the lobby- which was pretty. The food was good, but a very limited menu. The spa was not open - not even finished being built. There were not many other people there - which would probably be disappointing for your daughter - if they want a lively atmosphere.
