San Blas Sailing Trips

Could anyone with a future or past experience please post your inineraries? I am interested in what islands you visited, any special items you took that helped you out, what you would do differently. Any particular books articles or maps you had, places you got internet service? Who helped you with the details?

Thanks for you help!

Hi Julie,

Sorry I have not replied to you sooner. I had lost the thread. We have only had decent internet here in the San Blas in the past 6 months and after being without it for many years, I'm trying to catch up!

Yes, to answer your question, we sailed sailed our 52 ft. sailboat here to the San Blas, we have been here for about 7 & !/2 years.

Do not let your age and physical condition stop you from a sailing trip, you simply need to find the right boat to suit your needs. We have lived aboard our current boat for about 15 years. Over that course of time, I spent at least 6 weeks of that period in a "cast" on my leg. In my case I was lucky that our boat was very well suited for my recovery.

We also recently had an elderly couple as guests on our boat. The woman needed two canes to get around. She was very comfortable onboard our boat with our very spacious decks, and we even got her out in the water snorkeling on the reefs.

A sailboat will be the most comfortable way for you to enjoy the beauty of the islands.

If you would like to continue this conversation "off line", you can email us at wdd7317@sailmail.com.

I ended up booking a Catamaran Safari, through Cacique Cruiser, we reserved a 4 night trip. The tour operator will be taking us to Pornavir to meet this boat. Our reservation is for February 15, 2015.
