First-Time visitor

Hello. I'm planing on visiting a friend of mine who is a student in Cebu. My trip will be the end of January until the end of the first week of February. I just have some questions before my trip. How are things after the earthquake ? I hope as well as can be. What are the names of some low priced hotels ? What kinds of transportation are available for tourists ? What are the names of some nice restaurants ? Also, can you suggest any websites for cheap tickets ?

Cebu is fine.

Look up www.asiatravel.com for a range of hotels in Cebu City, Mandaue City and across the two bridges on Mactan Island including Lapu Lapu City.

Jeepneys, taxis and tricyles are available. Look up TA under 'Cebu City' for restaurants.

I agree with Victorianlad. Cebu is fine. There are jeepneys and taxis. Cebu is known for its lechon. You should try CnT and Zubuchon. You can check AirAsia.com and cebupacificair.com for cheap flights to Cebu. These airlines offer promos.

Low price to me is P1000 per night or less. If that is what you mean, here is my list of low price hotels.

Metro Park is probably the best value hotel in Cebu City in this price range. It has rooms as low as P800 and it has a swimming pool.

Otherwise, check these places in Cebu City, all P1000 or less per night. For some of them, you have to check the promo rate

What kinds of transportation are available for tourists ?

-------------------------------------------------------

In Cebu City

- Taxi

- Jeepney

- Walking

- Rent a motor bike

- Hire a car

Tricycles (motorbike with side car) are banned in Cebu City but are available in locations outside Cebu City such as Talisay City.

Walking in Cebu City is what I like to do.

For travel from Cebu City to other locations such as Moalboal or Oslob. You can

- Hire a car

- Rent a motorbike

- Catch a taxi

- Catch a bus

- Catch a jeepney

- Catch a V- Hire (aircon van)

Here are "nice" places I like to eat

- Terraces at Ayala mall. It is several levels of indoor and outdoor dining choices. My favourite restaurant is Mooons. Yes it is 3 O's. It is Mexican food. Not that i eat Mexican. I really like to go there to drink beer towers. If it is not raining, get an out door table at your restaurant which is right by the railing.

-- The Sandtrap in Banilad, Cebu City. for drinking and dining. It has 3 tennis courts , a swimming pool, an out door bar with large screen TV for sporting programmes, an indoor bar with pool table and an outdoor but undercover restaurant. Dining by the pool at night is very pleasant.

- I also like dining at a whole bunch of other places but that is based on budget, not ambiance.

If you are wanting to show off, you could dine at the restaurants in one of these hotels
