3D2N in Cebu

Hi guys,

I'm planning a trip to Cebu with a couple of my friends in the coming weeks. Tentatively it would be the 4 of us but there might be more joining. Seeking for tips/advice in putting together an itinerary for the trip. Will appreciate any input, big or small. Thank you!

Here's what I have for now:

Day 1 - 18/06

Arrival to CEB @ 12:15pm

Bus from Cebu City South Bus Terminal to Moalboal (3hr) Php107

Chill @ Panagsama Beach

Book whale shark diving trips from Moalboal? Php2,000/pax

Overnight in Moalboal

Day 2 - 19/06

Early morning - whale shark diving, Oslob

Sumilon Sand Bar Php850/pax

Tumalog Fall? (Heard its only 20min from whale shark area)

Overnight in Oslob or Cebu?

Day 3 - 20/06

Morning - Cebu city attractions

Departure to SIN @ 12:55pm

Would also help if I could have more accurate details about pricing/timing of the activities, transport and whatnot, thank you!

Hi Caden,

I would suggest you to forget about going to Moalboal.

Panagsama Beach is not nice at all. It is rocky. Unless you are there for diving, else I do not see anything worth doing in Moalboal.

The nearest worthwhile attraction near Moalboal is Kawasan Falls.

Since you are arriving in Cebu late, I would suggest you hire a taxi to bring you there from the airport and back. Do note that Philippines sunset is very early like 530pm.

Stay overnight in Cebu city and set off at 4am or 5am from Cebu to Oslob the next day.

You can proceed to Sumilon for a day trip and back to Cebu city at night.

You can go to the Whale Shark interaction by yourself as you can save heaps.

I hope this helps.

Maybe you and your friends can opt to stay at many different resorts in the south of Cebu (like Pulchra or Hidden Mountain Resort in San Fernando or at Club Fort Med in Boljoon, which is a few minutes from Oslob) While there, you can see old structures (like churches) or visit Obong Spring in Dalaguete (less than an hour from San Fernando; Carcar is also just a few minutes from San Fernando.

If you plan to view the sites in Cebu City, like Magellan's Cross, Santo Nino Basilica, Casa Gorordo, it might be best to stay overnight in Cebu City (although a half-day spent viewing these three sites is a rush).

Take note, too, that there are two routes in exploring the south of Cebu: Cebu City down to Santander via San Fernando, Dalaguete and Boljoon or Cebu City down to Samboan via Balamban, Toledo City, Barili, Moalboal and Badian (though you can combine the two routes at certain places).

Thank you both for your input.

I think we'll give Moalboal a miss since none of us are divers. Probably just gonna stay in Cebu City throughout the trip. Maybe do island hopping or walk around the city on Day 1, daytrip to Oslob on Day 2 and another short walk around the city on Day 3.

Thank you guys once again for your help, appreciate it!

Since you have now opted for Cebu City, here is my list of things to do, as previously posted

- Tour the historical sights/sites dating back to 1521.

the Top. A lookout over looking Talisay City, Cebu City, Mandaue City, Mactan island. And on a clear day, the islands of Bohol and Leyte off in the distance.

- The Taoist Temple in Beverly Hills, Cebu City. It is on multiple levels over looking Cebu City

- The Lapu Lapu monument, including the monument to Ferdinand Magellan, on the spot where Lapu Lapu's forces killed the explorer Ferdinand Magellan on Mactan Island

- Magellan's Cross in Cebu City, planted a few days before he got himself killed on Mactan island

- The Sto Nino Basilica and Museum

- The Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral and museum

- The historic Carbon markets

- Fort San Pedro and museum, including the Plaza Independencia

- Heritage of Cebu

- Manuel Yap ancestral home with many interesting artefacts

- Casa Gorordo. Home of the first Filipino Bishop, set up as it might have been in the 19th century.

- Take a day trip to kawasan falls

- Go early in the morning to Oslob to swim with the whale sharks.

- Ride the yellow submarine on Mactan island

- Gamble in any of the 3 casinos in Metro Cebu

- Try the sky experience adventure

- Visit a guitar factory on Mactan island and see guitars and other instruments being made

- Island hop the small islands off Mactan island

- Pay to use the facilities of a beach resort on Mactan island for the day

- If you will not already be visiting Bohol. Do a day trip to Bohol to see the main sights such as the Chocolate Hills, Lunch Cruise on the Loboc River and go swimming underground in the Hinagdanan cave. Supercat offers a day trip on their website but I am not sure they are running the tour at the moment. Look under island skip trips on their website.

- Go on the Aloguinsan River eco cruise from Bojo

- Visit Funtastic in Medellin in northern Cebu

- See some crocodiles

- See some butterflies

- Visit an amusement park. Only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday

- Picnic for the day at Aqua Cainta

- Picnic for the day at Tubod Flowing Waters

- Picnic for the day at Villa Terisita

- Spend the day at the Sandtrap in Banilad, Cebu City. It is 3 tennis courts, indoor bar with pool table. Outdoor bar with large screen TV for sporting programmes. Outdoor but under cover restaurant. And swimming pool. I like to sit in the cabana by the pool and drink San Miguel Light 5 at a time from a bucket of ice.

- Watch the latest block buster movies in 3D on the huge Imax screen at SM Mall

- Go ten pin bowling. If you want to do this with other expats, go to the Gaisano Country Mall Bowlingplex, at the rear of Gaisano Country Mall, at 1pm on any Wednesday. Everyone is welcome.

- Go running/walking with the Cebu Hash House Harriers on Saturdays

- Go drinking/dining at an expat bar in Cebu City such as

- Dance the night away in one of the many discos and night clubs around Metro Cebu.

- Go to a cockfight

I like the area around Ayala Mall in Cebu.

Depending on your budget the Quest Hotel is across the road and a nice hotel. A cheaper option which is across the road from the Quest is the Mandarin Plaza. Others in the same area are Parklane and Diamond Suites.

Around Ayala Mall.

If you want cheaper options will be Tune or Island Stay.

For me, that is Downtown on Colon.

If your focus is night life, then stay near Mango Square..

However, if it is your first time in Cebu City, and night life is not your main concern, my suggestion is a hotel near Ayala mall.

I think i'll skip on the nightlife this time round. We got to get up early morning for Oslob and on Day 3 for departure. Probably gonna stay in one of those hotels near Ayala mall. Thanks for the input guys, really appreciate it!
