One night in Moscow

Hi. Me and a friend of mine are staying one day in Moscow this July. We are arriving around 18pm, and leaving 6opm the next day.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Do you have a hotel recommendation? We wish to have somewhere quite central, and the standard should be decent. However, it is more important to be able to get around the city quickly, seeing we are only there a short while.

2. What should we see when in Moscow?

3. Do you have any great restaurant recommendations, wine bars etc.?

Thanks!

Go to the Moscow page - you'll find lots of ideas on accommodation, restaurants, things to see/do.

Hint: central hotel = pricey

Confused.

You are arriving at 1800 hours and fly out at 0600 hours?

12 hours on the ground?

Please explain

Ditto. "18pm" is decipherable albeit amusing but "6opm" totally shot me down.

PS You do realize you need a Russian visa, don't you?

Thank you for answering.

So sorry, guys, we are arriving at 6pm the first day, and leaving 6pm the next day. Meaning 24 hours on the ground.

We do realize we need a visa, yes. Thanks.

We are arriving at SVO, Sheremetyevo Airport.

What restaurant should we eat at?

Thanks!

<What restaurant should we eat at?>

What answer do you expect?? Do you realize you need to narrow search by giving exact location, price range, preferences etc.

The most likely form of transport is the Aeroexpress (train).

http://www.aeroexpress.ru/en/

This will take you to Belorusskaya Station which links with the metro system.

From the station, Tverskaya Street leads to the Kremlin and Red Square.

There are numerous hotels to consider depending on your budget.

Hotel Peking is a possibility. It is just off Tverskaya and near Pushkin Square

By the time you are at your accommodation it will be at least 2100 hours.

Time for a short walk down Tverskaya to Pushkin Square perhaps,

Good Luck

Peking is a whole metro stop away from Pushkin Square, otherwise correct.

I support the idea of staying anywhere along Tverskaya - this way you won't waste too much precious time on travelling to/from both the airport and main attractions. If you have no budget constraints, consider Ritz Carlton or National. For upscale dining consider Café Pushkin.

You will find if you know these chains that of course the Sheraton and Marriott will be VERY expensive (well over $300 likely), while the Holiday Inn will be more reasonable (more around $200). Also, within VERY easy walking distance of where the Aeroexpress comes in...from where one can then hop on Metro to get downtown...
