Rossiya airlines

I've been searching around the internet for air fares from St Petersburg to Frankfurt. Rossiya airlines prices are incredibly cheap compared to others. Why would they be so cheap? Are they reliable? Do they have a good safety record?

This is how internet rumors start.

One poster claims Rossiya is not safe but neglects to say the also have a perfect record and are approved for a host of European hub airports. Their fleet is newer than any large international carrier, mostly late model Air Bus. I fly on them and can only say that my experiences have been as good or better than any of the others such as Air France, Lufthansa, KLM, Finair and Aeroflot. Cabin staff is generally young and enthusiastic.

Of recent international flights, Comfort for long haul flight: KLM, more seat spacing and the very good seat back personal entertainment system(watched 9 BBC documentaries)

Best food: Air France, again long haul.

Usually best prices from LED: Lufthansa. They also get the award for most efficient and hassle free with a hub in Frankfurt that is easy to deal with.

Best short haul experiences: Rossiya, clean new aircraft, younger enthusiastic cabin crew and better food than most short haul carriers.

Easiest hub to navigate: Finair, Helsinki

Least value: SAS decent service but over priced.

Hi, I have a flight booked with Rossiya Airlines later this month, but I have discovered that it is a day earlier than my Visa starts. I am trying hard to contact the airline to investigate changing the flight, but struggling with finding a telephone number that someone actually answers.

Can anyone help?

Cheers DC, I have seen this & unfortunatley we can't get through to anyone that speaks English. The number found on line for the London office appears to now be defunkt as the guy advised me that the London office closed a while ago.

I have spoken without sucsess to someone in Berlin, but my holiday German isn't enough to sort this issue out.

It's so frustrating to get somewhere then fall at the final hurdle.

Any more help/advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated - Thanks in advance.

You would think so Vladchan. Our flight is out of Munich, but I would prefer to try and sort it now rather than trying to get it sorted at their desk in Munich (presuming they have one).

DC, I have tried their email, numerous times but get no responce. At the moment I have gone down the route of asking a german speaking friend to email the Munich desk on my behalf.

We'll see what happens...

Russellosborne,

Hi, do you need a local (russian) number of airlines?

if yes - it's +7 (812) 333-22-22 (actually I'm not sure that their specialists speak english)

also they have subsidiaries in other countries, you can check with them also.

For the local flights, IMHO, Rossiya's the best choice for me, international - haven't experienced them yet ... we'll see ))
