Pushkin to Pavlovsk

|We have a guided tour to Pushkin, but then wanted to leave the group and go to Pavlovsk on our own and then return back to St. Petersburg. We will be staying at the Salt Pier on the Neva River at the riverport station for Viking cruise line.

What is available for transportation from Pushkin to Pavlovsk? How do we get back to Viking Cruise Ship?

Hi this is Julia from TJ Travel. The best method I could come up with for your trip would be to take a mini-bus from Pushkin to Pavlovsk. You can search different forms of transport on this site: http://spb.rusavtobus.ru/en/

But taking a mini-bus (Mashrutka) is not an easy experience for foreigners. It might be easier to get a taxi (though a mini-bus would be cheaper). Does anyone in your group speak Russian?

To get from Pavlovsk back to St.Petersburg there is an electric train (electrichka in Russian) that goes to metro station Kupchino. Here are options from the official Pavlovsk museum website (it is in Russian so use Google Translate) - pavlovskmuseum.ru/for_visitors/how_reach/

I'm not sure how often they update the first website I mentioned, it would be wise if, upon your arrival you purchased a map with transport information - you can find them in any bookstore - the most common ones are little yellow guidebooks with the year printed on the front.

Here is another useful site which explains how to get to various places in St Petersburg (though again in Russian) - http://walkspb.ru/articles/prigorod.html

Assuming you get to Kupchino Station and Metro, as Julia advised……

The River Port is on Oktiabrskaya Naberezhnaya (embankment).

Nearest Metro is Lomonosovskaya (Green Line, Line 3), but from there you have to cross the river, and maybe 20 to 30 minutes walk.

So, you can travel there from Kupchino directly -- taxi??

OR take metro into St P, 9 stops to Nevsky Prospekt, (interchange station) then 3 stops south on the green line to Lomonosovskaya Metro Station, then walk or taxi, (???) short ride to the River Station/Pier.

Do you have your visas or are you under visa waiver for organised tour groups? If you don't have your visas and happen to be stopped by the police for an id check while on your own, you might get in seriuos trouble.

Your pier is in the opposite bank of the river from neares underground stations - so the best way to return to the ship is to take a taxi from any place you reach in town.
