Eating out in SPB

Hi,

I'll be staying at the Hotel Moscow in SPB late July early August ( actually 2 weeks time ! ) and would like to eat out but nothing fancy . Cafes , bars etc would be great rather than Restaurants or Hotels.

Can anyone recommend specific places for sandwiches , blini , soups , chicken kind of thing ?

Also a bit naughty as it should be on a different "topic" but are there any "flea markets" in SPB ? Moscow has the Vernisazh , Gorbushka , Luzniki Stadium car park etc . Anything like these in SPB

Thanks in advance for any help.

Udelnaya flea market - metro "Udel'naya" (blue line, north) + 5 min walk. I think Monday is a "day off' (but I might be wrong), and it's better to get there first half of a day, they tend to close of at around 16:00 (4pm) and it's the most on the weekends. Watch out for your valuables, keep everything in front of you etc. - lots of pickpockets and no police :) Search TA for some reviews

- blini chains: Чайная ложка (Chainaya lozhka = Tea spoon) (sweet and filling pancakes, soup, salads, drinks soft/hot) http://www.teaspoon.ru/menu , Теремок (Teremok) http://www.teremok.ru - same repertoire plus some places have "dessert hall"

- self-service cafeterias (very cheap but quality....varies :)): Столовая #1, Столовая ложка, Столовая - all of them carry salads/starters, soups, vegies, meat/fish dishes, desserts, drinks.

- self-service (better quality then above): Market Place (also known as Frikadelki). There's one at Nevsky 24, one on the corner of Kanal Griboedova emb. and Italian street...

- Stolle bakery-cafe http://www.stolle.ru/en/menu/saint-petersburg : sweet and filling pies, soups, salads, some main dishes, drinks

- there're few places something like "walk to wok" opened recently along Nevsky prospekt

Hi Ian,

welcome and feel free to ask any travel-related questions!

One more place to eat - Пироговый дворик (Pirogovii dvorik) http://www.pirogov-dvorik.ru - soups, pies, sweets, drinks. Few locations in the city center

Hi Svetakoshka,

I'm looking for info on visiting the Faberge Museum but have found so many different times , days etc I 'm lost as to which one's correct. I found this info on The Independant website..........

The Fabergé Museum (007 812 333 26 55; fsv.ru) opens daily except Fridays from 10am-6pm for guided tours and from 6-9pm for audio tours (150 roubles/£2.50). A one-hour tour costs 300 roubles (£5)pp or 9,000 roubles (£155) for a pre-booked, private group of up to 15. Pre-book tours via email on 3332655@fsv.ru at least one week in advance.

Then I found this item ...............

Apr 24, 2014 6:45:00 PM

A little more new information on the just publicly opened Faberge Museum. Yes, it is open and, yes, the published opening times for the Faberge Museum public tours are Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm. Private tours with advance bookings can be taken any day of the week as long as the booking is granted.

Is any of the above still relevant or correct and where in SPB is the museum located ?

Thanks again for your help.
