I'm going next March to Guangzhou. I think I could explore the south of China and Vietnam. Anybody knows how can I get from Guangzhou to Hanoi?
I remember China Southern doing flights to Hanoi. Always a connecting flight from Beijing-Guangzhou-Hanoi (or was it some other Vietnam place....?).
Take a look and check Guangzhou Baiyun Airport's website for flight schedules. You should be able to find it!
Thank you for your advice. I went to the site to see if they have flights. Yes they have but it is so expensive...700 US$! It seems that Guangzhou and Hanoi are not so farway!
Do you use to travel around China? Could you advise me about the places to see in the south$ I'll arrive and departure from Guangzhou on March next year.
Your other alternative could be booking flight with airasia.com from Guangzhou to Bangkok, Thailand. Then from Bangkok to Ho chi minh/Hanoi. I think it'll be a lot cheaper than going directly from Guangzhou to Hanoi.
If you like to visit Singapore then Tigerairways is your option. Same thing, Guangzhou - Singapore then Sing to Viet. I can't justify spending US700 on just airfares. I might pay that price but get to see another countries as well instead of sitting on the plane. Sometimes you don't have the luxury to wait for sales on Ctrip either.
you can fly from Guangzhou to Nanning in just 60 minutes, or if you prefer an uncomfortable 14-hour train-ride, you can do that as well.
from Nanning (a surprisingly pleasant and laid-back city, unlike what some popular Travel-guidebooks wanna make u believe) there are daily buses in the early morning to Hanoi. Both Guangzhou and Nanning have Vietnamese Consulats.
The chinese bus goes to the border, and after clearing chinese immigration (well organized, quick and 100% hassle-free) and then Vietnamese immigration (a nightmare, a big mess, a small shack with a bunch of arrogant corrupt rude immigration officers, chaotic and time-wasting), u will board a Vietnamese bus which will take u to downtown Hanoi.
much much cheaper than buying a one-way-ticket on China Southern. and for sure more adventurous ^_^
by the way, cict2011,
Airasia does NOT fly from Guangzhou to Bangkok
How long do you have to spend for this trip?
Are you on a time, or financial constraint? How many of you are there?
Direct flight Guangzhou -- Hanoi is possible and the fastest, but also the most expensive.
You could also go via Nanning. Guangzhou -- Nanning is possible by train and bus (and also flight, methinks). From Nanning, there's a direct bus to Hanoi (http://www.yunde.cn/title_list.asp?id=35), or you could go by train to Pingxiang, cross the border (Friendship Pass), get a taxi to Lang Son long-distance bus station then a bus to Hanoi.
Air Asia has Guangzhou – Bangkok flights starting from 20 Jan 09.
I already booked this trip for Feb 2009.
Are you sure the fare was in US$ not HK$ or RMB? I checked a random date and found a fare of 2100 RMB
My husband and I booked 4 one way legs through expedia from Beijing to Xian, Xian to Guangzhou, Guangzhou to Hanoi and Ho Chi Ming City to Siem Reap. We got the best price there after much research and on-line inquiries. Guangzhou to Hano is on China Southern Airlines. Is not a long flight. Good luck and safe travels.
