Longji Rice Fields

I plan to spend a few days in Guilin during the third week in October. I've read that the Longji Rice Terraces will have been harvested by then, so will it be worth while to take that tour?

Also, what is a "Minority Village"?

Thank you.

Generally the rice terraces is not recommended to visit by then. But the villages and ethnic people are always there. Better to visit Dazhai which is an area dotted with villages/wooden houses along the mountain paths and has more ethic charactor than Pingan.
