Train from Guilin to Hanoi?

Hi there

Does anyone know if there is a train from Guilin to Hanoi? I had heard the Beijing train stops there but a few people have said it doesnt?

If there is no train or if anyone knows a better way of doing this trip, I would love to hear your suggestions

Many thanks!

Hi, we want to travel from guilin to hanoi too, we have one question. What time do you arrive at the border? I've read that its about 3.00 am, can anyone confirm this? Because our visa is valid from the 16th and we would like to leave guilin at 15th this month. Thanks in advance!

Hi

We ended up taking the bus from Yangshuo and then tried to get a train from Nanning to Hanoi that same day. The train was completely booked up so we had to take a bus the following day. If you are getting a train, check if you can get it the whole way through or if you can book in advance! The bus route was totally fine and pretty easy except they did drop us off in a really random street in Hanoi but of course there were loads of taxis ready to help us :). We used the bus station near the train station and not the main bus station.

The problem with the train Nanning-Hanoi is it stops for border formalities in the middle of the night and doesn't really allow for a sleep. Better to get a train Guilin to Nanning then day bus from Nanning to Hanoi. I'd get a late night train getting to Nanning about 6 am or so. OR a late afternoon train out of Guilin that gets to Nanning in time to get a good night's sleep at a hostel or hotel. Either way, first morning bus out of Nanning to Hanoi.

Hi,

Can you help to advise how long it took to get from Yangzhou to Nanning by bus? Was the ride comfortable - advisable for 2 kids (12 and 7)??

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Ray.

Hi there,

We bought our tickets at the bus station in Yangshuo and I believe it took 9 hours to Nanning. It was totally fine - just bring snacks and something to keep you occupied. We watched some tv on our laptop. It was a regular sit down bus but it was comfortable enough and had a few stops on the way down. We left early in the morning and so arrived in the evening in time to find accommodation and food. We found it easy enough and had no problems at all.

Good luck with it!
