Hike Heavenly Steps & stay on Hua Shan

We (two women) would like to take the train from Lhasa to Xian and then see the Terra Cotta Warriors and hike up the Plank Walk to the top of Hua Shan, stay one night at the top and take the gondola down. We would then take the train to Beijing. We would greatly appreciate advice on particulars of timing, methods of transportation and timing for connections, how many days to allow in both Hua Shan and Xi'an. I am hoping that we are not required to be part of a tour.... Please advise.

No need to be part of a tour. You can either hire a driver to take you to the Warriors and/or Huashan. You can also take a bus to the Warriors. For Huashan, there is a also a fast train going there several times per day.

Day 1 Arrive at Xian Railway Station at night and take taxi to your hotel

Day 2 Usually there are some buses(游5,306,914 etc) from the railway station(火车站) to the Terra Cotta Warriors (兵马俑). Or you also can take taxi there. And back to your hotel or downtown. For the night, you can go to visit the city wall, ,Muslim street, Drum & Bell tower, etc.

Day 3 Shanxi History museum Small or Big Wild Goose Pagoda

Day 4 You can go to Xian North Railway Station to take high speed train to Huashan North station ( many trains, 0.5 hour) upon your arrival , take taxi to Huashan and start to climb stay overnight on the top

Or you can take tourist bus from Xian Railway Station to Huashan

Day 5 Take gondola down in the morning and take train back to Xian North Railway Station and then take high speed train to Beijing.

Hello:

That depends on what time you will visit the Hua mountain if you want to climb up it at the winter time, the wood plank is located at the south peak where you need rent harness to walk thorugh 50 cm plank from on part of the mounatain to another part. The strong wind and sonw cover will cause some possible danger to you at the winter time

Regard the tranpotation to the Hua mountain, bullent train is nice option for you( G824 8:00A.M-8:30A.M 50 RMB P/P), most efficient means to travle to Hua mounatin from xian.

One day tour by Bus to visit the terra-cotta warriors museum, city wall, the great mosque without hurry if you can start your tour at 8:15a.m in the morning.

Hope this can help
