boy scout monument

my son is in boy scouts and has heard a story of 2 scouts during WWII. a japanese soldier was readied to kill an american when for some reason the american held his hand up in the scout sign. he then passed out. he awakened, obviously alive, and found a note from the japanese soldier stating he could not kill another scout. his name was written on the note. there is a monument in kyoto of 2 scouts, an american and japanese, holding hands signifying the bond between scouts worldwide. we cannot find out any specific information about where this is located in kyoto. we have seen one picture of a person standing in front of it, so it does exist. any information would be greatly appreciated, it is one of the top things in kyoto that we would like to see. it has special significance for my son, being an eagle scout and also with telling of this story to younger scouts. thanks

The "Unknown (Scout) Soldier" monument located in Yokohama, 20 miles from Tokyo, inside this theme park, built as a block to the entrance of the old ammunition depot. http://www.kodomonokuni.org/index2.html
