Where to go fishing in & around Kyoto? Not cormorant fishing

Hello!

I'm in Kyoto with my 11 year old son & we've been researching online as to where to go fishing in and around Kyoto. Somehow it always leads us to cormorant fishing.

We do not have our fishing equipment so we would need a place to rent them as well.

Please help!

Go straight to Lake Biwa. It's only 15 minutes from Kyoto:

Google Lake Biwa fishing and you'll see much more.
