Ramadan in KL - transport, hotel breakfasts, etc...?

Hi all

Just wanted to warn those who intend to catch buses or taxis late afternoon - evenings: seems that during Ramadan, this is a real nightmare.... we saw a lot of endless traffic jams around .

Some taxis don't even bother to get to Sentral to pick passengers up, which causes large taxi cues at Sentral during certain times.

A lot of people just ended up getting out of the bus last night and walking....

Regarding hotel breakfasts - would love your input - in our hotel (a good 4 stars one) the breakfast was a total disapointment (we had breakfasts in various KL hotels in the past, so there is a comparison point...) - we are wondering if this is to do with the Ramadan, too?

Seems the breakfast room is half empty but so are the choices... such a pity as we were looking forward to those beautiful, amazing breakfasts ;-)....

We would love to hear about others' experiences, too...

Any other 'Ramadan Affects' we should be aware of?

How will it affect travel by bus to Melaka, Penang, Johor etc? What would be the best time to go to those places while avoiding traffic jams?

Thanks

Petaling Jaya...

1. Re: Ramadan in KL - transport, hotel breakfasts, etc...?

hi there

During Ramadhan, traffic is extremely bad from 4.30pm onwards to about 6.30pm as government offices and some of the private companies workers finished work. The Muslims are also going out to Ramadhan bazaars to buy food to break fast & rushed home to cook for breaking of fast for their families.

Some of the Muslim taxi drivers also will stop plying the road during breaking of fast (usually around 7.30pm).
