Full moon five days out from Fireflies??

Dear all - just wondering whether you think that going to do a fireflies tour 5 days before a full moon will still be OK? Not sure how much this matters (ie. could be a cloudy night anyway?) but I recall reading on the forum that going at full moon is not advisable. Cheers and thanks as always:)

I'll be interested in your replies, because I'm thinking of doing it 7 days before a full moon.

i dont know much about the moon but i did the trip last week and it was not totally dark ie as in pitch black and you still get to see the fireflies, just bare in mind the fireflies are tiny (there are a lot of them) but they are not like dragonflies. the trees really do look like they have christmas lights on them

Hi

You still get to see the fireflies during full moon but the effect of them on pitch darkness and with full moon is at a very great contrast .

Suggest to see the site(before you go go dinner) just before night fall to see the actual environment .

Once darkness set in you would not be able to see the surrounding

Thanks everyone - good advice:) I've decided it will still be a lovely, tranquil experience and even if it's not at its optimum....it's not like we have fireflies in Geelong!! And maybe having a look around before dinner is not a bad idea either:) We have CK booked for this tour so I'm sure he'll be able to accommodate us:)

You are worried about the wrong thing.

What you should be worried about is if its raining cats and dogs. It has been raining in the afternoon for the past few days.

2 things happen when it rains in KL

- Traffic jams (which might affect you getting to Kuala Selangor)

- Fireflies can't ignite (just joking)...but it would spoil a day out..

Actually, I was wondering about the rain. Believe me, I know what rain is all about here at the moment!!

Aaaah yes - rain! Poor old Qld does know all about it at the moment!! But the rain I can't predict - a full moon I can! So I'll carry on regardless and hope the rain stays away for just that one afternoon - Monday March 14...OK??? The power of positive thinking!!;)

We went on a day when it was pouring down with rain in KL. But by the time we reached Fort Melawati the sun was out.

Not sure if were just lucky.
