Suggestions for Special Restaurant

We are holidaying in SE Asia and will be in KL for my wife's birthday on 11th April.

Can people suggest a suitable upmarket restaurant for the occasion, which meets the following:

1. Local Food ( I count Indian and Chinese in this, but would prefer Malay, since we are in Malaysia).

2. Plenty of choices without meat. My wife eats fish, but not other meat.

3. We are backpacking so won't have very smart clothes with us. My son and I will manage smart jeans, leather shoes and collared short sleeve shirt, but not any more (definitely will not be bringing suit or tie!)

4. Preferably not a big modern hotel (I rarely find those to be the best place for authentic food) but if a hotel in KL is an exception to my rule I will consider it.

We are staying in the Golden Triangle, but would be happy to travel for the right restaurant.

The following restaurants are notable for their Malay dishes:

1. Bijan Restaurant ( http://www.bijanrestaurant.com/ )

2. Enak KL Restaurant ( http://www.enakkl.com )

3. Songket Restaurant ( http://www.songketrestaurant.com )

Bijan has won the Best Malay Restaurant for 3 years running.

Enak was shortlisted for the same category in 2011 and has been commended for 2 years prior to that.

Songket was also shortlisted in 2011 if I'm not mistaken.

If you're staying in Bukit Bintang area, Enak is probably the most accessible, followed by Bijan. Songket is nearer to KLCC.

You can check their respective website for the menus.

Hi Tim

There are plenty of flash place to dine at Starhill Gallery.Check out their website. There is the option of dining at Athmosphere 360,the restaurant that is in the KL tower,so you have a wonderful view over KL while the restaurant turns around slowly.Have a great trip.
