Eating with Teenagers in kuala lumpur

We would love some suggestions to experience good food as a family of 4 while on holiday in Kuala Lumpur.

Go to the hawker centre at the bottom of Lot 10.

Something (and a very good something at that) for everyone !

Be adventurous and try an Indian meal for lunch in Little India (near the Sogo department store).

Also don't miss Jalan Alor at night.

And there are a million others !

cheers

Hi

If you are staying in the Bukit Bintang area of KL, there are lots of options.

As already mentioned, Lot 10 is an indoor food market inside a large mall - its great, but I love the outdoor experience at night of Jalan Alor.

Once the sun sets, the street comes alive with restaurants, street carts etc all vying for your business. You sit outside restaurants, with no traffic flowing and just get caught up with the smells and atmosphere. Great value for money as well.

Petaling Street in Chinatown is a similar environment. Fantastic.

There are other more up market places, with extraordinary views from up high as well as Hard Rock Cafe etc, but in my opinion the street market locations win every time.

Enjoy!

Try the food court in the Pavilion or the newish one in Berjaya Times Square.

Cheap, so if they dont like it, not a great deal of money wasted.

We also enjoy Papa Johns Pizza at Berjaya Times Square. Pizza is good, but the service has been lousy of late.

2nd Jalan Alor at night. We eat at Yans restaurant there. They speak really good English, so no probs communicating with them. Important, if you are not too keen on over spiced foods, or have allergies.

Dont the know the age of your kids, so not sure what their likes will be.

There is basically no shortage of places to eat. Just depends on price and what style of food. Western, Chinese, Indian, Mc Donalds, Dome Cafe, Subway and the list goes on.

Our favourite eatery is in Damansara Uptown. It's not really in the middle of KL, but the place is full of local varieties (stall like eatery)

Secret Recipe - for great blueberry cheesecakes, lots of outlets around KL

Carl's Jr - excellent burgers, there's one outlet at the basement of Pavilion Mall.

Also, as already mentioned, food courts at Lot 10, Jalan alor night street and the food court at Pavilion level 1.

For something different we took our teenagers to the food floor at Starhill Gallery ( Lower ground/basement??) You could just walk across after the food court at the Pavilion.

We just had desert from Shook - icecream and sorbet - but the presentation was fabulous. My foodie daughter loved it.

There was live music and the toilets are definately worth checking out.

Enjoy!!!

Food Republic Food Court in Pavillion shopping centre would have to be one of the best. Plenty of variety.

Also there is a good food court at KL CC.

Jalan Alor has really lost it allure in the last couple of years and has become rather sleazy of late, so not sure you want to take your kids there in the evenings.

"Jalan Alor has become rather sleazy of late". What do you mean by that?
