Hop-on hop-off bus

We'll be in KL for 1 day on 4/6, a Saturday, and are considering spending the day on the HOHO bus. But I've read reviews saying traffic is such an issue that this is not a good way to see the city. I'm wondering whether traffic might be lighter on Sat. and if it is an issue, what's the best way to see the highlights in the 5 hours we'll have available?

LRT is the best alternative.

Traffic is not really that bad, much worse in NY or London. The HOHO is a good way to see the city.

There is a new ‘free’ bus doing the sights . . malaysiafreebies.com/go-kl-city-bus-free-tra… and they do have a facebook if you seach GO KL (Kuala Lumpur City Bus) which you may also want to check out.

The monorail and train [LRT] is a really easy and cheap way to get about and many stops are near the popular sights or connections to the trains or buses http://www.myrapid.com.my/rail/routes www.myrapid.com.my/tickets-fares/monorail http://www.myrapid.com.my/tickets-fares/lrt http://www.myrapid.com.my/bus/map http://www.myrapid.com.my/tickets-fares/bus .

We prefer public transport or to walk, as most sights are pretty close!

We almost missed a flight last time we transitted through KL. Having to spend 18 hours there between flights we headed into the city, checked into a hotel to catch a few hours sleep and to shower etc, had one of the best breakfasts ever - at the ParkRoyal - and then headed out to catch the HOHO bus for a quick look around,. Arghhhhh, what a mistake. There was an horrendous traffic jam, just unbelievable. Many people got off the bus hoping to find a taxi which could actually move in that insane traffic. The HOHO which normally I think takes about 1.5 hours took over 4 hours. Instead of getting to enjoy satay somewhere before going back to the hotel to shower and change for the flight home, we had to literally race to our room, throw our toiletries into our bag, check out of the hotel and get a taxi to the airport so as not to miss our connection. I would never advise anybody to do the KL HOHO unless they had oodles of time to spare.

Totally agree!!!! we did the HOHO bus last year what was supposed to be 3 hours turned into 5 hours of being stuck in traffic , and we still didn't get back to our hotel , we hopped off and walked back !!i personally prefer the monorail

Have fun :)

We did the HOHO bus and found it ok. We did step off a few places in our loop but did not find the traffic that bad. We did go early morning.
