Forest/mountain/waterfall day trip from KL

Hello guys.

I visited KL for the first time last September during our honeymoon, we spent only 2 nights on our way to Bali, but we loved it so much even though it wasnt the best time of the year for it.

We are thinking about visiting it for a longer period next september. My question is, is there any natural resorts that are a day trip distance from KL that we can visit to escape the city for a while without really travelling much? Any place where we can go see and then return to spend the night in KL would be great. P.S Genting high land seemed very ' disney-landy' for me . Thanx in advance

Genting Highland is the Malaysian Casino Disney but not as good!

You could look at http://openskyunlimited.com/v1.0/ or perhaps Cameron Highlands or perhaps Berjaya Hills (formerly known as Bukit Tinggi), but you are in the city . . . it is a lot of travel just to escape the city.

You may want to check out Fraser's Hill. You would probably have to hire a private driver as getting there by public transport doesn't seem very possible. But it is only about two hours from KL and will give you a nice break from the city. Hiking and birdwatching and golf are about all there is to do.

FRIM is another great place, it doesn't have a huge waterfall per se but the rockpools that cascade the hill/mountain are brilliant and you can even swim in them.

It is a great walk as well as they have a canopy walk which you are able to see KL in the distance.

We caught a vouched taxi to it and took the chance of a taxi on the way back the whole trip cost us $47myr and it was a great day out. If you put FRIM in the search button heaps of info on it :D

In all our trips to KL the only place we did not like was genting highlands except the cable car ride the rest was not my cup of tea. We have been to Disneyland and I would describe genting highland not even as its poor cousin! But that's just IMO some people love it
