Crikey that's a difficult one . . . NOT

Ah, As questions similar to yours get asked just about daily we have set up some Top Questions FAQs in the right panel part of this screen. Everyone forgets or misses the Top or Frequently Asked Questions/FAQs [especially if using smart phone / tablets / tablets], which are packed with lots of really great information about lots of really useful information!! If you are accessing TA via the smart phone / tablet app’ you won’t see the very informative Green banner or the FAQs in the normal app view on your phone, so suggest that you view the app it as full site mode / desk top view; or just use a laptop or pc to enjoy the information that has been collected. The Top Questions / FAQs ---> are on the right of all forum pages, you may have to click on ‘show more’ to reveal the full list!

you will find the Top questions about KUALA LUMPUR and the FAQs which can give a lot of the information you will need to answer your questions [and probably a bit more], in particular ---->

A taxi is door to door is very easy and will take about 40-60 minutes dependant on the traffic. The TAXI counter is clearly marked in the arrivals hall at both KLIA and LCCT terminals at KUL.

Walk up to the counter, if there is a queue it will be fast moving.

Tell the assistant where you want to go [hotel] and the type of taxi [budget or premier, or minivan]. They will tell you how much. Pay your fee by cash or card.

Fees are 75myr budget small compact vehicle, 105myr premier larger roomier vehicle or around 200 myr minivan 6am to midnight. All taxis charge a 50% surcharge on costs from midnight to 6am so costs will then be 105myr budget small compact vehicle, 150myr premier larger roomier vehicle or around 300 myr.

Most average travellers with 2 average or large suitcases and 2 carry-ons will need a premier taxis and it will cost them 105myr unless you are arriving after midnight.

The assistant will give you a receipt and a voucher. The voucher has a door number on it. Got out of that door.

As you come out of the door a person will ask for your voucher as you walk out the door, ask where you are going and call the next taxi over. Put your stuff and yourself into the taxi, confirm with the taxi driver where you are going, and off you go to your hotel!

Again as this question gets asked, well, just about daily we set up a FAQ in the Kuala Lumpur FAQs about costs ->FAQ Airport/City cost/options tripadvisor.com/Travel-g298570-s301/Kuala-Lu… [ < < < - - - just click on this link ]

There are no additional costs only than a tip which is up to you. Do not get into a non-voucher taxi or use touts, they will rip you off, they are not licensed and do not have adequate taxi insurance. Prebooked cars, Limos or hotel cars will cost considerably more. There are many companies operating car services that will be a bit more expensive than the taxi.

Have fun!

Why don't you take the KLAI express train to the central station, then them the taxi from there....very convenient, safe, fast, and much cheaper...

The KLIA Ekspress option is only cheaper if you are a solo traveller. If you are 2 or more persons, it can be similar or more expensive than a taxi and without giving door to door service.

We are a family of 4 adults and 1 toddler. We would have 3 small suitcases. Should we get a premier or minivan taxi ? Thanks.

My strong advice, is you are arriving at KLIA instead of LCCT, you can exit from the luggage area and go down to floor 1, and get a RM 2.00 coupon to get a red taxi. These red taxi is your best bet against the limo, as they charge by meter and you pay the toll.

Is a very better way to get a ride in to the city without worrying overcharge ! They got small compact or bigger van which can fit 5 and extra luggage comfortably

Don't believe that you wont get ripped off in a metered taxi. Last year one tried to take me by a round about route through KL to get to my hotel. I have been to KL many times and realised what he was doing. I pointed out that I was a regular visitor to the city and told him to go by the shortest route. He saw the error of his ways and got back on track.

Go to the taxi counter, tell them you requirements and by a voucher for the whole trip. Price is then fixed.
