There is no railway track going to Kuala Besut, so it is not possible to take a train there.

You need a ticket from Kuala Lumpur to Tanah Merah, the nearest station to Kuala Besut (45 mins drive or so) .

If is too late to catch a boat to Perhentian take a train to Wakaf Bharu and spent an overnight there, the day after take a taxi to the pier, the journey takes you one hour.

Hey mate. Hmm, I've been to Besut before and I drove from the capital to Besut but, I don't think there's a train connection these two locations. The most ideal medium is by bus. Assumming that you're planning to go to Perhentian / Redang Island, you could simply buy the tickets for the ferry from the jetty to the island on the spot. 13/9? That is dangerously close to the monsoon season so you might want to double check it mate.

Have a nice trip!
