balikbayan box

Hi to All,

Just want to ask how to send balikbayan box from Las Vegas to Manila? How much does it cost? How long does it take? Is it safe to send balikbayan boxes?

Hi Chinamermaid,

I can't exactly tell you the exact cost in shipping from Vegas to Manila. However, as a guide, the approximate costs of shipping balikbayan box from San Francisco and the bay area are as follows:

20x20x20 in --- about $55.00

22x22x22 in ----about $70.00

24x24x24 in ----about $100.00

Let me reiterate again that these costs are from the San Francisco Area. It should be slightly higher from Vegas. The normal delivery schedule to Manila is less than 30 days.

My recommendation is ship through LBC. I found them to be reliable. They should have a representative in Las Vegas or in neighboring cities around Vegas. Contact any local Manila LBC, they should be able to provide this info. It's very safe to send items in balikbayan boxes but there are certain restrictions of what to ship.

e.g. cash, extra assesments for electronic items.

I hope this helps.

I think the rate is the same from Los Angeles, California as San Francisco............ I agree that LBC is a great choice, but I know that there is also a company called AAA cargo that charges a little less.

Try going to a Filipino supermarket or restaurant in Vegas and you'll see tons of advertising in the free local Filipino newspapers outside the door. Most of the companies are reliable and provide free pick/up, boxes for your next shipment, and strapping for your boxes. Figure about 6 weeks door to door. It's almost impossible to have it delivered within 4 week-5weeks. Cost roughly about $60+. It's safe but don't be sending jewelry or fragile items. You never know how the cardboard boxes are handled and sometimes the Philippine Customs do check the boxes which is rare.
