You can book this the day before at any tour shop around the town and they will collect you from your hotel and take you to the ferry harbour.
Both the ferry and the hydro leave at 09.30 and return at 16.30,there is only one sailing in each direction each day.The ferry takes and hour and the hydro 25 minutes.
I don't know when you're going but the hydro service finishes very soon, usually early September-if it hasn't already done so even. But the ferry runs all year round.
On return the mini buses will be waiting to return you to your hotel.
First of all you wouldn't look weird with what ever you were carrying on a dolmus :) Everybody carries all sorts of things on them. In fact a small suitcase wouldn't even merit a second glance!
Yes there are pick up points in Gumbet.Zetaş taxi at 08.10 oppoaite Chineatown restaurant just after then,Windmill taxi rank(top of Bar Street)at 08.20,Bağevleri Hotel at 08.23 and Siesta taxi rank under the old windmills at 08.25.It then goes up over the hill and collects from hotels along there-Sunshine,Azka etc.
If you have a case this will be easier as you would have to walk from the bus station in Bodrum all the way down through the town to the harbour if you go on the dolmuş-and it's free :)
As far as I'm aware you don't HAVE to prebook, but you can. Two weeks ago I bought my ferry tickets (6 days in advance, as I happened to be in Bodrum that day) from Merhaba Travel Agency, which is just along from the castle and ferry port and by a v yummy ice cream stall.
Oh, but beware - when I caught the ferry back from Kos, it went back into the Cruise Port - so make sure you're booked on a pick up, as we had to walk back to Bodrum bus station! Not a taxi in sight. It wasn't at all fun with our bags of shopping :o(
that is so helpful, I really appreciate all of your tips. Thank you so much
