Cars, pets, canopies, oh my!

We are headed to Avon for our first OBX trip in a few short weeks, and are renting a pet friendly beachfront house. Are leashed dogs allowed on the beach? What about cars on the beach? I've never been to a beach where cars were allowed so this is making me nervous! Finally, we were thinking of getting a small canopy (8x8) to put up on the beach. Would we be able to leave this up all day while we go back and forth to the house? Is it allowed to stay up overnight?

Thanks!

It is frowned upon to leave anything on the beach overnight.
