commuter rail from downtown to.......?

Hi there,

I'll be visiting the city for a few days in early April, and plan to see what I can see by combination of foot and public transit. I have taken note that there is a commuter rail system -- wondering if from any of the stations there are interesting areas to explore on foot.

I'd be interested in parks, areas that are good for running, and neighborhoods with interesting commercial areas.

Thanks for any tips!!!

The commuter rail is just that - a commuter rail. It takes people from one, small suburb into downtown and back. It also has pretty limited hours, so not really good for late evening, or night time exploring. The most interesting parts of Austin you will be able to see on foot, or by bike, if you are staying downtown.
