Food trucks

Anyone want to recommend favorites?

I've only been to Austin once, a few days in 2009. Dangerously wonderful food. I'll be returning to the embrace of Austin the end of next month.

I remember being particularly taken with The Mighty Cone, one of the ones on a lot on Congress Ave. Is it still part of the landscape there?

Please share insight regarding some of the best of the food trucks.

The Picnic Food Truck Park opened this spring and is close to downtown. It's at 1720 Barton Springs Road.

Here is info just posted this week about new parks coming soon:

Break Point at the Boardwalk (2201½ Lakeshore) is along the new lake boardwalk; the GoodLife Food Park (900 E. Cesar Chavez) will be at the northeast corner of Cesar Chavez and Brushy; and the new Zilker Food Park (1210 Barton Springs Rd.) is offering pricey spots in the parking lot at a former bike shop/KFC location... The owners of Azul Tequila (4211 S. Lamar) and sibling restaurant Papalote Taco House (2803 S. Lamar) are advancing to the Northwest. Sunday noticed the progress being made on the new Azul Tequila outlet (3815 Dry Creek), and soon the second Papalote (13265 Research) should be open later in the summer.

Note: The Zilker Food Park will be close to The Picnic because it's at corner of Barton S. & Lamar. They will be 5 blocks apart.

Apparently there are one or more trucks parked one block east of IH35 on Caesar Chavez (1st Street) in Austin. Here is Texas Monthly magazine July 1, 2014 review of Kerlins BBQ.

NOTE: When you read these food truck posts, keep in mind they are mobile and can be here today and gone tmw. Most have a Facebook page and that's a good way to keep track before you venture out when you arrive in Austin. I have noticed that a lot of them will hook up and move for a day to work a special event for just 24 hours and then come back to their usual spot. Again, most of them are good about keeping their customers informed on Facebook.

Just found nice webpage for the new FT Park at East Ceasar Chavez and IH35:

http://www.goodlifefoodpark.com

This will be where Kerlin's BBQ is. Look at their Yelp reviews !

They are stating it is family friendly and even has a kid's playground area. Plenty of parking. It is about three long blocks East of the Austin Convention Center. On your left as you pass under the elevated IH35 highway.

Just read that LaBarbeque will be moving to Good Life Food Park August 5th. They are currently at 1200 E. 6th. Very popular food trailer!

Also, 6 blocks west of Congress Ave and easy walk is another BBQ trailer, Valentina's Tex Mex BBQ;

Another new "Italian Themed" food park on So. 1st is next to another food park in that area. This can be accessed by Capital Metro city bus traveling on So. 1st. Quirky shops/restaurants all up and down in this area:

It's also across the street from the infamous Gourdoughs. Look at the photos of these Texas size donuts!

Also in this vicinity is Sugar Mamas Cupcakes and Freddie's Place bar with huge outdoor area and live music:
