Embassy Suites, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Place, or Residence Inn

First time visit to Austin and we've narrowed it down to these hotels: Embassy Suites Town Lake, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Place or Residence Inn downtown. Which is best? It will be three of us, and we want to be able to walk to most places. We'll have a rental car.

The Hyatt Place and Residence Inn are north of the river which would make walking around the entertainment district a little bit easier.

We've stayed at both the Embassy Suites (great cooked to order breakfast there, by the way) and the Hyatt Regency. Both are good; can walk to a few restaurants from there (including Threadgill's if interested in that). As Wally says above, the others are on the "town" side of the bridge, so you are closer to more of the Sixth Street and downtown places from there. The Embassy Suites and Hyatt Regency, across the bridge, are closer to the South Congress area with its shops and restaurants. If you are coming in the summer months, you might not want to walk anywhere.

They're all good, the Hyatt Place is the newest. They're also all very close to each other. I don't think you'll go wrong with any off this list..

All will charge for overnight parking of the rental car.

Welcome to Austin!

They are all great choices, but as mentioned above, if you are coming in the summer don't do ES or HReg as it just ads longer walks to get back and forth to downtown.

Here's link to my favorite downtown street with eats, shops, etc

Austin Chronicle is a weekly free entertainment paper that is now !00% viewable on line every week. Just click on the words E Edition on homepage. In the back are the ads for bars and music venues for that particular week:
