Music venue for Dec 20 or 21

Spending a pre-Christmas holiday in Austin with our 20 something children. We're looking for some good music either concert or club etc. most genre, classic rock, some western, jazz, bluegrass. Any ideas? Saturday night Dec 20 is preferred but we could come into town on Friday. Thanks for input.

I've looked at the schedules for a few of the venues below, and I'm more familiar with the Friday night bands (and it's Friday, the 20th... Saturday is the 21st) If your 20-somethings are all over 21 I'd recommend the

Continental Club (South Congress) -- tends to be more rock, blues and can be rockabilly-ish , they'll also have music in the late afternoon.

Elephant Room (3rd & Congress) -- mainly jazz, but on FRIDAY the 20th is Beto and the Fairlaines (band that played regularly in Austin in the early 80's, kind of more tex-mex/latin rock, and a lot of fun).

Antones (Riverside, you'll need a car or cab) - Vallejo is playing Friday (might need to get tickets in advance, they're latin-infused rock).

I recommend reviewing a copy of the Austin Chronicle (look online, in the back are all the club ads). http://www.austinchronicle.com/

If you're driving down Friday, and approaching Austin late afternoon (4-7PM), tune in to KUTX 98.9 (the public radio station's music station) for the Old School Dance Party.

I have no idea what the temperature will be 12/20-21, but I due know that we have had the worse arctic storm in 3 years and wind chills in the teens. That said, I was surfing the web today and found two websites I want to share with you. First one is great list of Austin Events by date. The second is the Holiday schedule for the beautiful, historic Driskill hotel. Go to Google Images and put name in search box and see photos. The events look great. If you can spring for the $45 high tea, I highly recommend it. Also, if money is no object then you might want to go back in time and have dinner in the gorgeous Driskill Grill restaurant. Why? Because it is exactly they type of venue where you would see J.R. and Sue Ellen Ewing having dinner.

If weather is nice, have a cocktail out on this terrace overlooking Congress Ave downtown:

You are close to the famous Texas fare restaurant across the Congress Ave bridge over Lady Bird lake. Fun for lunch or dinner:

Lastly, don't miss shopping/dining on 2nd Street. Grab breakfast or coffee break at Austin Java. If weather is warm you can sit outside and people watch. Great breakfast tacos:

Absolute must? That would be the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar at the Palmer Auditorium which is walkable (for me) from downtown:

Saturday night (21st) , at the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar, Alpha Rev plays at 8 PM. They are excellent. Actually the music line-up at the Armadillo that weekend (Friday 20th -Sunday 22nd ) is excellent. You won't go wrong seeing any of the musicians that weekend.
