Food near Hyatt Arlington?

Will be at Hyatt in late April w/ friend. She gets to sightsee, I get to go to school.

Saw prev post, haven't been to Hyatt in several years.. Is Ray's Burgers as delish as yelp reviewers say it is? Any other inexp or moderate places to eat in area? Still Ruby Tues across street on Wilson? Japanese place across the street by the Spice of Life deli?

Any suggestions appreciated. No car, so within walking distance or short cab ride away.

Thanks all!

Ruby Tuesdays is still across the street from Hyatt. There's a pizza/pasta place up the road - I think near Safeway Mart and also Chinese Garden, but have not been to either. Starbucks is a few blocks away. The Hyatt rooms have been remodeled and are very nice. I was there a few weeks ago.

My husband has a meeting at the Hyatt Crystal City next week-is this the same Hyatt in this post? I would like to know if there is any shopping nearby and about restaurants also. I am trying to decide if I will go with him. I would like to have something to do nearby. Thanks.

nlg: No it's not the same one. The Hyatt they were discussing is in the Rosslyn area. Crystal City is also a good location for visiting anything in the DC area. There is a mall across the street (Crystal City Shops) with all the usual upscale stores. There is also a Metro station in the mall, which you can use to get anywhere in the area. There are plenty of restaurants in the area as well. DC and all it has to offer is less than 10 minutes away on the Metro. You should go along if you have the chance.

I haven't been to Ray's Burgers, but I can tell you there are tons of inexpensive food choices near the Hyatt Arlington. You'll have no trouble finding good places to eat in the area.

From the Hyatt Arlington, you can walk left (downhill) a block on Wilson St to get to the Rosslyn Metro station, which pretty much opens up all the dining in the area to you. There are also several carry out / cafe options inside the metro building.

If you continue downhill one more block, you'll see many more fast food choices. I like Chipotle (great guacamole) and Baja Fresh (awesome salsa bar) for Mexican. If you just look around while you walk you'll see many other choices. Almost all the office buildings have pay-by-the-pound buffets in their first floor lobby areas. There is also a Chop't (salads), a Coci, and another sushi place.

If, when you leave the Hyatt, you instead turn right and walk uphill 2 blocks, you'll see several more options. There is a Cafe Cucu on the right, and it is my favorite cafeteria choice in the area. The selection is extensive (including sushi, salads, fried chicken, mac 'n' chz, made to order sandwiches) and it typically doesn't get too crowded or noisy, which allows you to hear the international music they play. There is also a Safeway grocery store next door with ready-to-go items. If you continue walking there is a Quiznos on the right and then another block up on the left is a Red Hot and Blue BBQ place (a bit more upscale, on the order of TGIF).

Note that most of the cafeteria style restaurants serve office workers and are only open banker's hours. The chain restaurants are typically open nights and weekends. Good luck, I hope you enjoy your visit!
