Wanted to review this organisation as my partner and I have just done a 3 day, 2 night jungle tour with Mashaquipe tours in Rurrenabaque and had a really good time. We spent quite a long time researching the tours available as we also did a pampas one with Dolphin. We wanted an ethically sound company which would treat wildlife well and was environmentally friendly. Mashaquipe is a bit more expensive than the cheapest available (they charge 250 Bolivianos per day) but in our opinion it was worth it. I found some good reviews online on Lonely Planet but also some posts which said that they thought these good reviews were fake, so we were a little cautious. However we really enjoyed ourselves, you take a 2 /3 hr boat trip to get to their lodge, which is really nicely situated in jungle, then after lunch (food is decent ) we had approx 3 hr walk in jungle. As opposed to pampas tours where you see loads of animals but are quite passive, we did lots of trekking but didnt see much wildlife! however did see wild pigs, various birds, different types of monkeys and lots of insects. THe groups are small, 4 maximum and the guide spoke very good English. Our guide, Ernesto, was friendly, cheerful, informative and good fun to be with. As a group you can choose what the itinory is, we did lots of trekking (9 hrs on 2nd day!), camped out in deep jungle in mosquito nets, built a raft and sailed down river back to lodge on it. We would highly recommend Mashaquipe. They are owned by families from the idigonous communities who live in the National Park jungle area and we felt that we were helping support them.
