Iberostar Grand Amazon or Amazon Clipper

We're considering an Amazon cruise next Feb. or Mar and have read about Iberostar Grand Amazon and the Amazon Clipper. Has anyone had any experience or recommendation on either of these?

Thanks

The Clipper Premium boat trip is excellent. The accommodation is probably better than you expect and the crew and guides are very good. It is amazing to see the vastness of the Amazon River complex and to see the way of life on the rivers.

Thank you for the quick response. The Amazon River looks amazing. The Amazon Clipper Standard looks very quaint and cozy but maybe it's too basis. Plus it's a smaller boat (I think for 10 passengers). So maybe we should go with the Premium Clipper. Do you know how much turbulence there is on the Amazon? My wife has a problem if it gets too rough. I assumed that it's relatively smooth.

Thanks again. I'm getting excited about visiting Brazil for the first time. It will be our third trip to South America. We loved the culture, diverse geography, and people on the first 2 trips.

If you haven't booked yet, go on the Grand Amazon. We travel to the area and will be back again in 2012. We have sailed on the Grand and it is excellent. The rooms are HUGE and wonderful. You have your own balcony with chairs. The guides are amazing and the operation runs nearly flawlessly. The Five Star ship is a wonderful Oasis after a hot day in the rain forest or our on a launch but still has an expedition type feel. Just very nice.

If you have a choice, do the Rio Negro (4 night) itinerary as it is better than

the three night Rio Solimoes. We did both and that is a good option if you have the time.

The Rio Negro floods late, so you want to go as far into March or even April as you can. So many people make the mistake of not going near or at the crest of the rains. Therefore they don't get to enter the flooded forests and it is not as good. Just like Africa, where there is rain there is game.

Can't go wrong.

We've opted to take a tour with OAT (Overseas Adventure Travel) that includes the Galapagos Islands and 4 days on the Amazon. If you go to the OAT website, you can get the details.
