Transportation from Rio Airport (GIG) to Ilha Grande

We are planning a trip to Brazil in January and are looking to get from the Rio airport to Ilha Grande, probably by a group or private transfer (and then boat). Are there companies that provide this service? From what I've been able to find on the internet, it seems like most of the transfers leave directly from the city, so we'd have to first get into Rio (by cab or bus) and then get on a transfer. Is there a way to avoid this and leave for Ilha Grande straight from the airport?

Thanks !

Unfortunately, there isn't. You will have to go into the city from the airport to pick up a transfer.

Ilha Grande (Big Island) is 95 miles southwest of Rio de Janeiro. The island is a largely undeveloped protected area and noted for its beautiful beaches and hillsides covered in lush tropical forests. There are no cars and no banks on Ilha Grande, so bring cash with you since not all hotels, shops, and restaurants accept credit cards. The largest village on the island is Vila do Abraão, where most of the visitor facilities are located, and can be reached from the mainland by local ferries and catamarans.
