a little bit of local color.

no subway strike in SP. it is over. google translate local news:

Rio airport strike.. . there is a lot of nuance there.... a minor union is calling this strike, not union that represents most workers... google translate this paragraph (which is in middle of link below)... it remains to be seen how much support this strike will actually muster:

24-hours by one small union sounds manageable. SP metro workers suspended their strike but said they might resume by today if their demands weren't met. Haven't seen any update. Fortaleza transport workers announced a strike starting Monday. We're flying out of Brazil Sunday (FOR-GRU-ATL-MDW), and hoping for no big hassles. Only big problems at Fortaleza's airport I've heard of so far are very, very long lines for taxis.

Despite the strike today at GIG, reports are that people are moving quickly through customs and immigration, although protestors are causing traffic problems near the airport.

Rio de Janeiro airport workers suspended a strike today after a court ordered them to return to work.

The strike didn’t result in canceled or delayed flights, according to the airport management company Infraero and the Brazilian airline association.
