Are there any waterfalls to see in the area?

Sure! Situated at the end of the Appalachian Mountains and in the moisture-rich environment of the Gulf of Mexico; there's plenty of elevation change and water.

The most famous is Peavine Falls in Oak Mountain State Park, in Pelham just south of Birmingham. More information can be found on their website here: www.alapark.com/OakMountain/PeavineFalls/

There are many run of the river dams as well. There is an 1800s-era dam across Buck Creek in Helena at a lovely park that is very popular; here's a live webcam view: waymarking.com/waymarks/WMGFHD_Helena_Waterf…

In Hoover there is Moss Rock Preserve which includes a splashing creek and waterfalls too:

Enjoy; let me know if you want more suggestions or there's anything else we can help you with in planning your trip. Safe travels and enjoy your visit to Birmingham!

There is also the Boulder Canyon nature trail, which is very convenient to I-65 via exit 252, in an extremely nice part of town. This trail is great for families because it is a loop and is just at a mile. With leisurely stops it can be done in like 45 minutes. There are climbs and flats creekviews, small cascades and a waterfall. There are also a couple of geocaches in there. Trail is well maintained by scouts and a community with a 'generous budget'

Have fun, Miller
