Yup, they are all sitting at my home waiting for me to venture outdoors. My companion never gets bitten, but I look like a terrible diseased person. Bring strong repellent, and use it often.
I have travelled in Greece and Spain too and l didn't get bitten at all by using the mosi repellants like jungle formula in Cavtat . There are no real stagnant water areas that l came across that these critters love so well, so maybe why anyway ? Pretty sure you will be ok as hopefully July is not humid which is a another mosi loving environment . Such a beautiful place and enjoy but take your repellants !Edited: 22 May 2018, 17:51
Thanks for the advice. It looks beautiful although can't decide between areas
I'm out there 2nd of June & will be taking some spray just in case. I use Wlko Insect Repelant 50% zeet £2 per 100ml seems very affective wherever I've been.
Dubrovniktravelady is it humid where you are living ?
I have most experience with mosquitos at the Makarska Riviera, and they can be pretty bad. Even worse the smaller insects locals call "papadaci" (haven't got a clue what is the name in English, or Latin specie name). The only really efficient repellents are those containing DEET or similar chemical (such as "Autan")
Zeet should read Deet, old age & mispelling
We used Boots own brand repellent last year. It was very effective.
Can't remember the exact name but it comes in a red can with a silver/grey cap.
Avon Skin So Soft is also very good - I've heard that it's used by the army when on manouevres in certain parts of the world.
thanks for all the advice. I've booked my flights but will be making sure I pack plenty products as recommended just in case.
