Help needed with Cavtat urgently!

We were looking at Dubrovnik for flights but then heading to montenegro for a week in early July. However, I've noticed Cavtat and it looks lovely. I'm guessing we can do a day trip excursion to montenegro but can we also get about easily by bus in cavtat? we like walking and nice scenery with an odd hour or two chilling out but we're not into lying on a beach for a week. Would this resort suit us and is it as expensive as dubrovnik itself for eating out etc? Thanks for any advice, we need to decide and book flights!

Cavtat is rather lovely and nowhere is as expensive as Dubrovnik in Croatia. You can do trips quite easily and there is a little boat that goes to and fro to Dubrovnik all day so you can access things easily there such as visiting other islands, kayaking etc. I don't do beaches all day (not in Croatia - it's too stony) and I would find enough to do around that area for a week.

Cavtat is an ideal place to relax, walk, sunbathe etc.

The local bus leaves for Dubrovnik at least twice in the hour. There are regular boat trips to and from Dubrovnik daily up to 11.00p.m. in July and August.

Cavtat is fav - basically it is a small dubrovnik without the crowds. YOu can take the boat or bus into dubrovnik every day if you want. Basically Cavtat is a great chilled out "village" with a long promenade and cafes and bars opposite - lovely woodland walks up by hotel croatia and around the penninsula. No sandy beaches - but concrete slabs with sun loungers. Very quiet, and classy. You can do day trips to Montenegro, Mejogouri (sp), Mostar in Bosnia, islands, fish picnics - basically everything you can do in dubrovnik.

Mlini a few miles up the coast is worth a look if you want a quiet place for a few hours.

We have been to Cavtat for the last 3 years . It is a lovely place , with no banging type bars or clubs . It is a great place to go and unwind and just chill out . Dubrovnik itself is very nice , but you can do the sights around the City in a day and still be back to Cavtat in time for tea . Transport around is easy , frequent and on time (The u.k. could learn from this )

We stay at the Bacan Apartments , which are basic but extremely clean . It is at the top of a steep hill , but at least you get some exercise during your time there . Go and enjoy the place .
