Day 6 of our trip
We left Korcula old town on the passenger ferry back to Orebic where we had left our car parked overnight. The crossing is only 15 minutes and easy to figure out. Once in Orebic, we drove to Trpanj and got in line for the morning crossing to Ploce back on the mainland. There's not much in Trpanj, but it is a cute small town and we enjoyed coffee while waiting. Arriving into Ploce, the view was a bit depressing - industrial and less charming buildings. We then drove north to Drvenik to take another ferry across to the island of Hvar, arriving at the south end in Sucuraj. We then drove north down the center of the island winding our way to Stari Grad. The road is very narrow and hugs the hillside - often without guardrails. Plan about 1.5 hour drive time and be careful. The view and landscape is unique and beautiful, but there really is nothing along the way to stop for. Once we arrived into Stari Grad, we checked into our apartment and then explored the old town. Some lovely alleys and streets with a charming Riva and many yachts docked along water's edge. There are great squares with lovely restaurants and bars - a very relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere.
