Zagreb to krk

I want to find the best way to get from the airport in Zagreb to the coast. We are considering an early summer week if we can get to the coastal islands in under the 4-5 hours by bus. Any suggests? Thank you

Pretty sure you can get to the coast in less than four to five hours if you are looking at the island of Krk...or you could get there quicker if you take a short flight from Zagreb to any of the coastal cities such as Zadar, Split, Pula or Dubrovnik.

The schedule for April is not yet available, but you will be able to obtain it at http://voznired.akz.hr/VozniRed.aspx?lang=en.

It's a 4 hour bus ride, and you will need to transfer to the main bus station in Zagreb.

Your options will depend on your arrival time.

There is one bus daily at 15.30 direct from the airport to Rijeka, this has to be booked in advance and costs about £20 one way. If you arrive early in the day, you can take a regular bus from Zagreb bus station to Rijeka and use the local bus service to Krk. As mentioned, there is also a mid afternoon regular bus from Zagreb station to several towns on Krk. Regular bus costs less than direct airport transfer bus.

Thank you for your replies, i am now thinking of hiring a car, we can do this for £100 sterling and be there in 2 hours. Also a good option if weather is rainy to do some sight seeing.

Since your question is about the coast in general, you might consider also going to Pag near Zadar, which would be 2.5-3 hrs ride since there's a bridge connecting the island with the continent (and on the way you can pass through the Pltivice lakes...), and also a slightly longer ride than Krk would take you to Cres and Lošinj islands, accessible by ferry. Having a car is a very good idea in general.
